A new bathroom

Posted: December 30, 2010 in House

Over the last month we have been buying a new bathroom to replace the old one. We have put up with the one we inherited for ten years, so now is the time to sort that out.

Bex has requested a stone floor, so I have been reading up on how to go about it. I don’t have much problem with any of the plumbing, but laying stone tiles is a new one. We bought sixty travertine, a beige, mottled colour. I was a bit worried that they would be heavy, but after getting the old bath out, and having to cut it in half, I’m not so bothered.

Work about the house

Posted: December 30, 2010 in House

I haven’t been writing much in the last few weeks, partly because of work and partly because I have been equally busy in the house. Decorating the hallway and glossing takes a while. The full central heating went on right at the start of November, and that means I can work in the house during the evenings.

Script writing

This last year I have been writing a few film scripts, mostly developing our own projects, but recently I have been writing articles for film websites. This is partly to promote the things we have been doing, and partly to create connections and partnerships.

Drinks for Bex

Posted: December 4, 2010 in Main

Tonight we are having a few drinks with friends at the house. This is all a bit impromptu, as we were supposed to be throwing a big party, but had to postpone it, due to the weather.

There was a point in the week where Bex decided to hold off and reschedule it all. After all, you can’t have a big band experience without a big band. Not only that, but some of the decorations we had ordered still haven’t arrived. Hey ho, give us a little more time to do it better. Probably at the end of January.

Its just a bit of snow!

Posted: November 30, 2010 in Main

Woke up to a very light layer of snow this morning, so I headed out with the kids on the school run. Normally I take them, and a friend, to a bus stop part way, but decided to drive them all the way today. Mmm, not the best decision. Half way there had way more snow than home and it was now coming down in force. Took twice as long to get to Sorrel’s school and had to drop her off early to walk. Jules and I then headed off to his school, which is sort of on the way back, although in a different direction. Lots of dodgy breaking and drifting across the road. A bit of fun, actually.

Tree felling

Posted: November 14, 2010 in House

We are visiting Pa today. A couple of months ago he had the big tree at the front of the house cut down. This tree started life as the family Christmas tree, was planted out for the next year, and the next year, before being too big and staying put. Sorrel and I counted the rings on the large stump. We agreed on 52.

Go carts

On Wednesday night we headed a little south to Crawley to partake in a little go carting. We get a call from the TeamSport people every so often, and the evening deals are quite reasonable.

There were ten teams of four or less, mostly corporate outings. I called a few friends to make up our team and off we went. A quick briefing on what to do and what not to do, we were led down to the trackside to get our helmets and gloves.

Great evening, with us having about twenty minutes each in the car. We didn’t get to stand on the podium, but didn’t finish last either. We came 6th.
